Your little one needs some time to slow their mind and body down before bed - a wind down time can be key to getting a good night's sleep! Knowing when to expect bedtime means less procrastination, like asking for a snack or potty & searching the bedroom for monsters (again). Make for more restful evenings for everyone so you can snuggle and wind down together and still have time for yourself!
Wind Downs are easy with a Playlist!
Here's how to set up a Scheduled Playlist, that gives your little one time to wind down:
Step 1: Set up a "Time-for-Bed" Schedule
After connecting to your Hatch, tap on the "Schedule" tab at the bottom/center of your screen. Tap on the "+" sign in the upper right corner to add a new Schedule and select the "Time-for-Bed" option.
**Pro tip! If you don't have a set bedtime, but you want to make sure that your little one keeps the same nightly routine, just add a Touch Ring playlist instead of a scheduled Playlist. Make sure you are on the "Touch Ring" tab and tap on the "+" sign in the upper right corner.
Step 2: Add Customizations
Now it's time to have some fun selecting the sound and light combination you want your little one to Wind Down to! You will need to select the time you want the "Time-for-Bed" Playlist to begin playing and customize your light/sound combinations.
If your child is 2 years or older, we'd recommend starting off your little one's Wind Down with a story from one of our loveable characters! We also have some great Guided Rest options for infants. You can select from a Dynamic or Solid light. If your child is older and likes to read before bed, maybe skip the sound and have a timed bright light for them to use to read by. In general though, we recommend a softer light option to help your little one start to relax. This will be the first combination in your Playlist and should be a setting that helps indicate to your little one it's time to start thinking "bed time" thoughts!
After you have selected all your choices for your first Playlist step, go down to the bottom and tap on the "Create playlist". This will allow you to add more steps into your Playlist. However many steps you need, we recommend the last step use one of our "Sleep" sounds with an "Infinite" duration.
Step 3: Rest Well!
After you have added all the steps you want for your Playlist, you can tap on the "Save Playlist" option to save and start giving your little one some time to wind down!
