Don't want to have your phone out all the time? You can absolutely use your Rest 2nd gen or Rest+ 2nd gen device without needing to use the app all the time! The devices are designed to be paired with the Hatch Sleep app, but you can control the basic features of Rest and Rest+ without your phone. If you have scheduled Sleep or Time-for-bed and Time-to-Rise signals set up on your Rest or Rest+ they will run as scheduled without needing action from the app, just make sure the device is connected to WiFi!
How does the Touch Ring Work?
You can turn your Rest on/off and cycle through your favorites by tapping the metal touch ring on the top of the device.
- One brief tap on the touch ring will turn the Rest on to your last-used light/sound setting.
- Each successive tap will cycle through your favorites.
- A “long tap” (holding the ring for a few seconds) on the touch ring will stop the content that's currently playing.
How do the Buttons on the Back of the Device Work?
You can activate the nightlight feature by pressing the small round button found at the center of the back of your device (this button is between the volume and brightness buttons).
- Pressing the button turns on a soft white light. This can be used any time you need a little extra light or visibility in the room with your little one. Using this feature will not interrupt any sounds currently playing.
- Pressing the button again turns the nightlight off. The lamp will revert back to the original light setting you had in place before you pressed the button.
You are able to control the volume and the brightness by using the buttons found on either side of the nightlight button.
- The smooth button with a light symbol controls the brightness.
- The ridged button with a sound symbol controls the volume.
- We made the buttons with these different physical characteristics so that they're easier to distinguish by touch!
