Using the Hatch Baby App Alexa Skill
Selecting a Baby
If you have only one child registered to your Hatch account, you don’t ever need to say the baby’s name. However, if you have more than one baby registered, you need to tell Alexa which baby you are referring to. If you don’t specify a baby, Alexa will ask you which baby. The examples below use the baby name “Ellen” to tell Alexa which baby you are referring to.
Using the Hatch Skill
Alexa needs to know that you want to use the Hatch Skill, so you need to start with something like
- Alexa, tell Hatch to…
- Alexa, ask Hatch to…
- Alexa, use Hatch to…
This set of phrasings is controlled by Amazon. To see more of the details, you can read this: https://developer.amazon.com/public/solutions/alexa/alexa-skills-kit/docs/supported-phrases-to-begin-a-conversation.
You need to start with the phrase above before you use the phrases below. For example, a complete chat with Alexa would be “Alexa, tell Hatch to log a wet diaper.”
Diapers
Diapers can be categorized as
- Wet, pee
- Dirty, poopy, poop, poo poo
- Both
The examples below use “wet” for the diaper type, but you can use any of the above.
Note that in the UK, “nappy” is used instead of “diaper”.
