Rest+ 2nd gen has a sensitive "turn off" process that if done incorrectly will result in the device resetting, instead of turning off.
To fully power down your Rest+ 2nd gen:
- Unplug the device and press and hold the power button until the clock display reads "Off". This takes 3-5 seconds of holding the power button.
- Release the power button while "Off" is shown on the display. This will turn the device off.
If the device is plugged in, it will display "Rst"; however, if it is running off the battery it will show "Off". Continuing to hold the power button for 5 seconds or more will result in the display changing from "Off" to "Rst". If the power button is released while the display reads "Rst" then the device will reset itself. The display will flash "88:88" and, once the connection is reestablished, the clock will display the correct time and the device will continue to stay on.
