No phone in the room with you and your child would like to change the volume or brightness? No problem! Simply turn the device around to access the various controls such as a Night Light or easily adjust the volume level/brightness level on the current routine that you are on.
The Touch Ring:
The Touch Ring is an interactive metal ring on the top of all Rest 2nd gen devices. It's an easy way to change the sound or color of your Rest 2nd gen/Rest+ 2nd gen quickly or if you want to turn it on or off without having to open up your app. It’s especially helpful when your hands are full! You start the sound on you Rest 2nd gen or turn it off using the touch ring! A tap to the touch ring will cycle through your touch ring steps.
Here's how to use the Touch Ring:
- Tap the Touch Ring with your finger to turn on your Hatch. The Hatch will turn on to your first Touch Ring routine. Touch Ring routines are pre-programmed light and sound combinations. You can customize your Touch Ring routines in the Hatch Sleep app.
- Continue to tap the Touch Ring with your finger to cycle through your Touch Ring routine steps.
- To turn the Hatch off, simply tap and hold your finger on the Touch Ring until it turns off. You'll need to hold your finger on the Touch Ring for approximately three seconds before the device turns off.
- If you would like to disable the Touch Ring so little hands are not able to make adjustments, see our How to Enable Toddler Lock article for how.

The Night Light Button:
Need a little light for a quick diaper change in the middle of the night, but you don't want to change all the settings on your Hatch? That's whre the Night Light Button comes in handy! Just tap on the circle button in the middle/back of your device for a soft, yellow light. It won't disrupt any sound to turn this light on. Once you are done with the diaper change, just tap the button again to turn it off. A few things to keep in mind about the Night Light Button:
- The color is not able to be adjusted, it will be a soft, yellow light
- The Toddler Lock will not disable this button- it will be able to be used for a quick light in your little one's room even with the Toddler Lock enabled
- You can adjust the brightness of the Night Light by using the brightness up and down buttons on the Hatch, after the Night Light has been turned on. The light will always turn on at the "default" brightness.
Volume & Brightness Adjustments:
If you would like to adjust the volume of your Hatch, up or down- just use the volume controls on the back. The volume control buttons have small ridges on them so you can quickly tell them apart from the brightness controls, even in the dark! The brightness buttons allow you to make changes to the brightness setting you are currently running without having to do so through the app. If you need more light or less, just tap on that button!
