Is your Hatch turning off unexpectedly? We can help get this resolved so your little one's sleep isn't interrupted!
Check your settings
First, you will want to check your routine. When setting up your routine, you will want to keep a few things in mind:
- Check your duration: Your device could be shutting off due to the content reaching the end of it's set duration. Depending on the type of content you are playing, you will have different "duration" options. Sleep sounds can be set to play until the touch ring is tapped, Hatch+ sounds will have different duration options. You will be able to set the duration as well as view the preset duration (for some sounds) when you are setting up your routine step.
- Check your routine steps: Your device could be shutting off due to it reaching the end of the one or two step routine you have set up. You can set up two "linking" steps to your nightly routine, but no more then two. While you can have up to 20 routine steps saved on your device, you can link just two of them together so they will flow from one to the other. You can easily tell which steps you have set up to "flow" from one to the other by looking for the line linking the two steps instead of a space.
- Did you start a scheduled routine early by tapping on your touch ring? When setting up your routine, you can set it up to be a part of your touch ring and also have it set to be a scheduled routine (which will begin at a certain time). If you have a routine that is scheduled and a part of the touch ring, and you start the routine earlier than the scheduled start time, the device will shut off after the set duration from the time it started, rather than the number of hours after the scheduled start time. For example, if you have a scheduled routine to start at 6:30pm, and you tap the touch ring to start routine at 5:30pm instead, it will shut off in the set amount of duration from the time you tapped the touch ring.
Can your little one reach your device?
If it's possible that your little one might be able to reach your device and adjust the settings, we'd recommend trying the toddler lock. You can lean how to enable the toddler lock here.
Do you have an Alexa?
If you have some Alexa routines set up, it's possible they may be causing your Hatch to shut off. You can check on your Alexa routines by launching the Amazon Alexa app, tapping "More" in the bottom right-hand corner, and then select "routine" from there. We recommend turning off any routines you have set up, in order to test to see if that helps to resolve the issue. If that seems to be it, you will want to adjust your Alexa routine to make sure that your Hatch does not shut off when it's used.
Reset your device
If your settings seem to be correct and your little one can't reach your device, you will want to go ahead and reset your Rest 2nd gen with the following steps:
- Ensure Rest+ 2nd gen is plugged in directly to the socket on the device or has been charged for at least 5 hours. Do not use the charging base as part of the Recovery Mode process.
- Press and hold *BOTH* the power and connect buttons for 10 seconds - the connect button is the small circular button with two arrows on it, located next to the power cord port.
- Release the power button but keep pressing the connect button for an additional 10 seconds
- Release the connect button and connect to your Rest+ 2nd gen- making sure to accept the firmware update when/if prompted.
